NYS Security Programs

8 Hour Annual Firearms Training Course

This New York State 8 Hour Annual Certified Firearms Training Course will satisfy your yearly firearms qualification requirement for Armed Security Guard. For retired law enforcement officers, this is the only course that they must take on a yearly basis. All other Armed Security Guards must also take the New York State 8 Hour Annual In-Service Training Course to complete their yearly training requirements. 

47 Hour Firearms Training Course

This New York State Certified Firearms Course is for registered security guard who wish to carry a firearm in the course of their duties. It is a comprehensive program, teaching the basic safety rules, fundimentals of shooting, tactical shooting, care and cleaning. Part of the course will cover the proper use of force including deadly physical force. Also covered in weapon handling is shotgun and rifle. Novices and accomplished shooters will enjoy the our low key approach to teaching these skills. Each participant will have to obtain a minimum of seventy percent on all shooting exercises and written testing.

Annual In-Service Training Course

This New York State Certified Training Program is for all Current New York State Security Officers. All Armed Security Guards (except retired law enforcement) and Unarmed Security Guards must take this program on a yearly basis to satisfy their training requirements.

16 Hour On-The-Job Training Course

This New York State Certified Security Course is required to be taken within ninety (90) days of completion of the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment Training Course. It expands the security guard’s knowledge of his or her new profession, and develops skills which are necessary to carry out the performance of their duties. Retired law enforcement officers are exempt from this requirement. Completion time is sixteen hours(16 Hours).

Pre-Assignment Training Course

This Certified New York State 8 Hour Security Guard Course is the entry level program which all security guards must take (Retired Law Enforcement Officers are exempt from this course). It is an introduction to the security profession. Basic skills in communication, personal interaction and use of force are covered among other topics.

NYS Certified First Responder Program

This New York State Certified First Responder Program, is a comprehensive first aid course for those people charged with responding to the scene of an accident. It teaches them how to survey the victim for injuries and medical conditions, move the individual, if necessary, and then treat the patient till the ambulance arrives. Basic Life support protocols, delivery of oxygen, body or limb stabilization, treatment of trauma and medical emergencies are among the modules the participant studies. This course is approximately seventy hours (70 Hours) in length. In order to become state certified the participant, will have to pass (with a minimum of seventy percent) a written New York State proctored exam. In addition he or she will also have to pass a New York State sponsored Practical Examination.
