NYS Security Training
We offer the 8-Hour Annual In-Service Course monthly at two locations: Belle Terre & the Nassau County Range.
This course must be taken ANNUALLY. The security guard license is valid for two years.
Law Enforcement / HR 218 Training
It is a comprehensive program, teaching the basic safety rules, fundamentals of shooting, tactical shooting, care and cleaning. Part of the course will cover the proper use of force including deadly physical force.
EMT / First Aid cpr-aed training
Eight-hour training course for security guards who need to re-new their guard licenses or to remain current. This course must be completed within 12 calendar months from completion of the 16 Hour On-the-Job Training Course for Security Guards, and annually thereafter.

What is the first step in becoming a security guard?
If the person is a CIVILIAN they must get an unarmed guard license first. The first requirement
is to take the 8 Hour Pre-Assignment. The course must be followed up by the 16-hour On-
The- Job Training course.
How Do I become an armed security guard?
If the person is a CIVILIAN, they must get an unarmed guard license first before becoming
armed.
When you have been issued an Unarmed Security Guard License you will need the 47-Hour
Firearms Training to become Armed Security.
Who is required to take the new firearm safety training course?
Any individual who seeks to obtain or renew a NYS concealed carry license for a pistol or
revolver will be required to take the 16-hour classroom and 2-hour live-fire firearm safety
training course. This will be required for concealed carry licenses issued on or after September 1,
2022.
Individuals renewing their license in New York City or Westchester, Nassau,
and Suffolk counties must complete the training.
