HR-218 / LEOSA Firearms Qualification

This firearms qualification is conducted in accordance with HR-218 / LEOSA (Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act) requirements for qualified retired law enforcement officers.

The course takes approximately 2½ hours and includes:

• Firearm safety review
• Review of HR-218 / LEOSA requirements
• 50-round DCJS course of fire
• Live-fire qualification — 70% minimum passing score

Upon successful qualification, participants will receive a photo qualification card. When carrying under HR-218, retired officers must carry their Retired Law Enforcement Identification Card along with their current firearms qualification documentation.

What to Bring

• Retired Police Identification Card
• Pistol License, if applicable
• Firearm (revolver or semi-automatic)
• Magazines or speed loaders
• Holster
• 50 rounds of ammunition

Add the NYS CCW 2-Hour Refresher for $50

Participants who also need the 2-Hour Refresher for their NYS Concealed Carry Permit may add it to their HR-218 registration for $50 — a $25 savings compared with registering separately.
