The NY DCJS 8-Hour Annual Firearms Security Training is a mandatory, yearly refresher for armed guards, consisting of 3 hours of Article 35 (Use of Force) review/exam and 5 hours of range qualification. Participants must pass a 50-round, 70% proficiency qualification to maintain their certification.

Components:
Classroom (3 hours): Review of NYS Penal Law Article 35 (Use of Force/Deadly Physical Force) and a written exam.
Range (5 hours): Live-fire qualification with duty weapons.
Qualification Standard: Minimum 70% score in the designated target area.
Frequency: Must be completed annually to renew armed guard registration.

Annual Course Requirements: Valid NYS Security Guard License and a valid NYS Pistol Permit.

N.Y.S. ARMED SECURITY requires you to qualify with the weapon or weapons that you wish to carry while on duty as a guard.
Bring to class: one weapon, one box of ammo, a holster, security guard ID, & NY pistol license.

If you are prior law enforcement and qualify for the HR-218 permit as part of L.E.O.S.A. you may take the HR-218 with this course together at a discounted rate of $150
