HR-218 / LEOSA Firearms Qualification

Safety Quest Ltd. offers HR-218 / LEOSA firearms qualification for active and retired law enforcement officers on Long Island, New York.

The Law Enforcement Officers Safety Act (LEOSA), also known as HR-218, is a federal law that allows qualified active and retired law enforcement officers to carry concealed firearms across state lines, subject to federal requirements and certain restrictions.

Eligible retired officers must carry appropriate law enforcement identification and maintain the required annual firearms qualification.

Course Overview

Approximately 2½ hours, including:

• Firearm safety review
• Review of HR-218 / LEOSA requirements
• 50-round DCJS course of fire
• Live-fire qualification — 70% minimum passing score

Upon successful qualification, retired officers receive a photo HR-218 Qualification Card.

When carrying under HR-218, retired officers must carry their Retired Law Enforcement Identification Card and required firearms qualification documentation.

• Retired Police Identification Card
• Valid Pistol License, if applicable
• Firearm — revolver or semi-automatic
• Magazines or speed loaders
• Holster
• 50 rounds of ammunition

Armed Security Guard Combination — $150

Participants who are also NYS Armed Security Guards may combine their HR-218 qualification with their NYS 8-Hour Annual Firearms Training for a discounted total of $150.
