COURSE DESCRIPTION

The 8-Hour Annual In-Service Training Course is the required annual training course for NYS Security Guards.

This course is required for both unarmed and armed security guards and provides updated and enhanced training on the duties and responsibilities of a security guard.

The course must be completed within 12 calendar months of completing the 16-Hour On-the-Job Training Course and annually thereafter.

COURSE COMPLETION

Students must successfully complete the required examination to receive their Course Completion Certificate.

ANNUAL TRAINING REQUIREMENT

This course must be completed every year.

Because a NYS Security Guard Registration is issued for a two-year period, security guards will generally complete two 8-Hour Annual In-Service Training Courses during each two-year registration period.
