NYS 18-Hour Concealed Carry Firearms Safety Course

This is the New York State required 18-hour firearms safety training for applicants seeking a concealed carry license and for license holders who are required to complete the training for renewal.

Safety Quest Limited is authorized to provide this training. Participants who successfully complete all requirements will receive a certificate of completion.

Course Overview

The course consists of:

16 Hours of Classroom Training

• Firearm and safe-storage practices
• NYS and federal firearm laws
• Concealed carry and situational awareness
• Conflict management and de-escalation
• Use of deadly physical force
• Sensitive and restricted locations
• Alcohol, drugs, and firearm safety
• Interactions with law enforcement
• Suicide prevention
• Basic principles of marksmanship

Students must pass the required written examination with a score of 80% or higher.

2 Hours of Live-Fire Training

• Range and firearm safety
• Safe loading and unloading
• Drawing and re-holstering
• Target acquisition
• Firearm condition checks
• Live-fire proficiency

Students must successfully demonstrate the firearm proficiency required by New York State.

Ammunition

Participants must provide their own ammunition.

Students who need to use a Simunition training firearm will be charged an additional $50 ammunition fee, payable at the course by cash, check, or money order.

Course Schedule

This course is held over two consecutive Saturdays:

Saturday, December 5 & Saturday, December 12
8:00 AM – 5:00 PM both days

Attendance for the full 18 hours is required.

Registration & Cancellation Policy

A non-refundable deposit is required to reserve your seat. The remaining course balance is due prior to or on the first day of training.

If you need to change your course date, your deposit may be transferred to another available class with at least 48 hours’ notice.

Registrations may be rescheduled a maximum of two times. After the second reschedule, the deposit and any payments made will be forfeited.
