Course Overview
HR-218 / LEOSA Qualification
- Firearm safety and federal LEOSA requirements
- 50-round DCJS course of fire
- Live-fire qualification — 70% minimum passing score
- Photo qualification card issued upon successful completion
NYS 8-Hour Annual Firearms Training
- Firearm safety and Use of Force review
- 10-question written examination — 70% minimum passing score
- 50-round firearms qualification — 70% minimum passing score
Armed Security Guards must qualify with the firearm(s) they carry while on duty.
What to Bring
- Driver’s License
- Current NYS Armed Security Guard Registration
- Retired Law Enforcement Identification Card
- Pistol License
- Duty firearm, magazines and holster
- 50 rounds of ammunition
